We will be keeping the website updated on the front page as well as on the calendar on the website as to our weekly hours. Here are our store hours this week (May 3-May 9th). Altered Class line up!

Nancy has put together some amazing Altered Projects. The first class will be this weekend (RECYCLED MAGAZINE PURSE) and there is still room for you to take the class.

Have you seen Nancy's wonderful Altered Art Projects? They are indeed wonderful!

Today's class is definitely altered....altering magazines that is! Not only will you make this "need to talk about" purse, you will also be helping the environment by recycling. And YES, this purse is definitetly useable. Nancy has been using another Magazine purse that she made for several months now. I believe that she will be bringing it to class to show you the durability of it.

Areas get a face lift!

The CONSIGNMENT section is now displayed much better and has it's own display unit! There's lots there, come in and take a look. If you have products that you would like to consign, bring them in!

Stamp-A-Stack

This month's upcoming Stamp-A-Stack is on Sunday Jan 30th from 12:30-3:30pm.

Pictured are 3 of the 8 cards that will be available for you to make. I have included a few of the new stamp sets from There She Goes clear stamps as well as stamps from Pink Cat Studio, a chipboard dragonfly card and others!

A Stamp-A-Stack class is a relaxed class where you pace yourself. Each card and all of the supplies to create it are contained within a bin.

The fees for this class are: Members: $18.00, Non-Members: $20.00. These fees will cover 6 cards. You may choose to create additional cards for $2 each. There will be at least 8 different cards for you to choose from.

As this class is self-paced you only need basic card-making experience. I will be there to guide you along, but minimal instruction is needed. This makes this a great class for beginners but also a nice class for those with experience making cards, as everything is prepped and you just get to sit and enjoy creating!

You can work on your cards on your own but sometimes a group or a few people like to work together. You choose what works best for you. As everything is contained in a bin for a specific card, when you are done making a card, just return the bin with all of the supplies to the main table and pick up another bin, and so on. You can make as few as 6 cards or choose to make extras during the 3 hour period.

Registration is on a first-come first-serve basis. So please register as early as possible. Registration cut off will be Thursday January 27th (or when class is full-10 SPACES Available) in order to allow for preparation. A lot of time is needed for staff to prepare the materials for this class. So registering ASAP is preferable. Many thanks!

Note: Cards may be designed using a variety of mediums: stamps, die cuts, paints, etc. They are not necessarily all "stamped" cards. Variety is the spice of life!

Scrappers', are you ready for a CHALLENGE!?

We are introducing a NEW Scrappers' Challenge!

This challenge will run from now until June 30th, 2011. You can join in anytime, but the sooner the better! Each time you create or complete a scrapbook page at our store, we will be keeping a record of the number of scrapbook pages that you get completed. Please note that your pages must be completed/finished while at our store.

Here are some of the details:

If you attend a midnight crop and complete 4 pages, you get 4 pages noted by your name(or any amount that you complete).

If you just come on in to use our workshop area and complete 2 pages, another 2 pages get noted by your name(or any amount that you complete).

Another way that you can get more scrapbook pages noted as completed at our store is by taking scrapbook classes.

If you are in the BG POTM and you attend a complimentary class, get 2 pages noted.

If you take a Monthly Memories class, get 2 pages noted,

even better....if you take a Fun, Fast and Fabulous class, you will get 8 pages noted.

BUT....we will also be announcing challenges during this challenge! We might announce a theme, maybe a specific product, maybe a layout, you just won't know until we announce it. When we do, there will be a time frame to complete layouts using the challenge that we announce. For every layout that you complete using the challenges that we set, you will earn DOUBLE layout points. (ie: if you complete 1 layout using the challenge you will get 2 layouts marked off)

You can see that it will not take any time at all before your scrapbook page numbers start to climb. So, what is in it for you? Of course we are going to reward the person with the highest number of pages completed! Well, we will also have a 2nd place and 3rd place winner as well! Hey, you will even have the satisfaction of completing layouts for you and your loved ones to cherish your memories forever!

1st place (highest number of pages completed): pick any class valued at $30 or less for FREE + a basket of products FREE (basket will be revealed soon)!

2nd place: pick any class valued at $25.00 or less FREE

3rd place: pick any class valued at $20 of less FREE

We do hope that you will join in on this challenge. There is no charge to take part in this challenge. All that you have to do is SCRAP!

As soon as you complete a layout at our store, let one of the staff know and you will have started the challenge! How many layouts do you think that you will complete? I can't wait to tally the numbers in June.

There She Goes stamp sets!

We have received our lastest shipment of There She Goes stamp sets. The quality of these sets is absolutely awesome. You will also be pleased with the quantity of stamps in each set. Jessica certainly does not waste any space when creating these sets! I am including pictures of the sets that we have in stock as of Jan 10th as well as the samples of the sets that we have in stock as well as those sets that we had in stock. 2011- Classes, Classes and more classes!

We are striving to bring you lots of classes this year. There are many classes that are now scheduled "on a regular-basis". That means that the following classes will be offered to you on a regular reoccuring schedule:

ATC Social - The 1st Thursday evening of every month 6:30-8:30pm
ATC Beginner class - The 2nd Tuesday evening of every month 6:30-8:30pm

Monthly Memories - The 2nd Thursday of every month 10-11:30am OR 6:30-8pm

Club Scrap - The 3rd Thursday of every month

BG Page of the Month - The last Thursday evening 6-8pm and the last Saturday afternoon 1-3pm of every month.

BG Card of the Month - Is held on a Wednesday evening 6:30-9pm and Sunday afternoon 1-3:30pm every month.

Stamp-A-Stack - Held once a month, dates to be determined, please see class schedule.
Midnight Crop - Every 2nd Friday - January dates are Jan 7th and 21st. noon-midnight

Classes occuring every other month will be:

Fun, Fast and Fabulous - January 22nd, March 12th, May 21st 10am - 5pm

PAGE OF THE MONTH PROGRAM 2011

DEC 31st: I have been in discussions with BasicGrey staff this week, and they have not yet finalized the details about this upcoming year's POTM program.

As we would not want to give you any information prematurely, we have not released any details about the upcoming year, as Basic Grey has not yet released any information.

If you are interested in being on our list for the upcoming year's POTM program, please let us know. Those who get their names into us will get the first chance! IF you would like to know about this past year's program, you can see what it included from our past post on Jan 25, 2010

(just click on the date which has a link to the post).

This past year was a great success, and it will be interesting to see if there are any changes to the 2011 program. I can't wait to get the FREE album in Feb from this past year's program!

Teresa will also be doing more stencil & embossing paste classes (we can`t wait to see her creations!).
There aren`t enough hours in the day for all the classes she would like to do!
Stacey is starting a new class called Monthly Memories, you will be making 2-12X12 themed pages.
Keep an eye out for more classes from Robin, Nancy, Laurie, & one more new designer whose name I won`t mention (it starts with an A and ends with nita)...

We are bringing you the opportunity to complete some last minute Christmas creations. Our designers have a few Holiday classes to get you in the spirit or keep you in the spirit!

Embossed Forest Card class Wednesday Dec 8th 10:30am-12:30(1)pm: Teresa's Embossed Forest cards have been very popular. By request we are running a 4th class. Come to this class for the pure pleasure of making these stunning cards or to learn how to incorporate other products into the embossing paste for a whole new look.

Altered Art Tags: As this is a longer class we have broken it down giving you 2 class options.

Option 1: A 2-night class

Part I Thursday Dec 9th from 7-8:30pm and Part II Tuesday Dec 14th from 7-8:30pm

Option 2: take both sessions on the same day

(Part I & II) Sunday Dec 12 from 12:30-3:30pm

This class is more about learning altered art techniques than it is about the tags…You will be taught the secret to how Tim Holtz, the Altered Art Guru, creates vintage / shabby chic projects….
The class will include:
An introductory course to Ranger's product lines and one of a kind tools for Altered Art which can be used for making cards, scrapbooking and altered art projects and much more…. Learn how to use the following Ranger products: “distress ink pads”, embossing powders, alcohol inks , Adirondack dabbers, Perfect Pearls, Ink Essentials Adhesives, Distress Stickles, Distress Crackle Paint. And the list goes on…………

Christmas Box, 6 Tags AND a card! Tuesday December 14th 10am-12:30pm (*note: only 4 of the 6 tags are pictured)

This is the 2nd time we are running this class! This class will give you some fantastic tags for your special gifts that you give over the holidays!
In this class you will be making 6 beautiful chipboard tags and you will learn how to do a transfer technique with Sticky Back Canvas!
All of the tags and the card fit into the box.
The box is adorned with some great details: cricut die cuts, embossing technique using embossing folders with the Cuttlebug/Big Shot and more!
A class that you will not want to miss out on to help you decorate you gifts for the holidays!
Please bring your basic kit to class, foam dimensionals, liquid adhesive, glue stick, scissors and a scoring tool for the box.

Holiday Paper Wreath and tag Wednesday December 15th 10:00am-12:30pm

Join us today to make a Christmas Gift and and coordinating tag/mini card! Don't fret if you are not quite ready for the holidays. Just leave all of the worries to us, and you will have one more gift done. And it will be made with love.
Today's class features hand-made paper pointsettias to create a wreath as well as a matching tag/mini card.

My home studio Stamp-A-Stacks were a great hit, therefore, I am going to start them here at the store. Here are the details:

Do you enjoy making cards?

Want to get together with a bunch of fabulous people and create cards?

Want a little choice in what you make?

Want a class that is self-paced?

Here's how it works:

I design a number of cards.

All of the supplies for each card will be organized in a plastic bin.

The bins will be lined up on the workshop workstation table.

You just go pick a bin, and start creating!

All that you have to bring is your Basic Kit and you're ready!

Members fee: $18.00, Non-Members fee: $20.00. These fees will cover 6 cards. You may choose to create additional cards for $2 each. There will be at least 8 different cards for you to choose from. (only 3 of the 8 cards are shown in the picture).

This class is self-paced. You should have some card-making experience as minimal instruction will be provided, but I will be there to guide you along the way and help as needed.
You can work on your cards on your own but sometimes a group of people like to work together. So you choose what works best for you. When you are done making a card, just return the bin with all of the supplies to the main table and pick up another bin, and so on. You can make as few as 6 cards or choose to make extras during a 3 hour period.

Registration is on a first-come first-serve basis. So please register as early as possible. Registration cut off is TODAY Monday November 22nd (or when class is full-10 SPACES Available) in order to allow for preparation. A lot of time is needed for staff to prepare the materials for this class. So registering ASAP is preferable. Many thanks!

Note: Cards may be designed using a variety of mediums: stamps, die cuts, paints, etc. They are not necessarily all "stamped" cards. Variety is the spice of life!

Teresa's Embossing Paste class!

What a great group for Teresa's Embossing Paste class featuring the Dreamweaver Bare Tree Stencil! This is a picture from her 1st class. Her 2nd class is scheduled for November 16th from 6-8:30pm.

Teresa is a VERY talented person and we are VERY lucky to have her. If you have taken any of her classes, you will know what I am talking about. It is the little details that Teresa adds to her cards and projects that give her work a special touch.

Did you know that Teresa is an incredible artist, and by artist I mean painter! You should see her watercolour paintings! We're not talking colour by number. She has a true gift. There She Goes!

Well, am I ever super-excited to let you know about "There She Goes"!

It all started on Friday with 3 fun ladies in our store. I overheard one of the girls talking about her design team, so I just had to ask the question: "Did you say that you are on a design team?!" Well, that started a conversation that has led us being introduced to the owner and illustrator of There She Goes stamp company, Jessica Knutsen! I arranged a meeting with Jessica this morning and before I knew it I was more than in love with her line of stamps. Actually, my interest in her stamps began quite awhile back when I found her blog. Luck would have it that months later she would be in our store! I have had her blog flagged in my favorites file at home! So, (of course), before she could leave the store, we became her wholesale customer on Vancouver Island. We are delighted to bring her fabulous line of stamps to you! I basically bought her out of what she brought with her....!

Come in to the store to check out the fabulous sets that we have in stock. YOU can be the 1st on the Island to have your very own set!

Teresa and I are going to be busy designing cards with the new sets to bring you some instant inspiration. Each set is jammed packed with great images. You are getting great value for your dollar when you see just how many images you get in a set.

I have posted a picture of the stamps sets that we have in stock right now. I have also featured two of the sets. I just want to bring to your attention that these two sets that I am showcasing here were designed to go with one another. The first set, Home Sweet Home (HSH) is the base set. Shimmer Sprays, Walnut Ink and StazOn cleaner in the new smaller spray bottle: We sold out of these so fast and had such good feedback about the Tsukineko Shimmer sprays that we ordered them back in. Feedback that we received about these: customers liked the smaller amount with a lower price point therefore able to get a wider range of colours all at once, the shimmer is fabulous and the mist is very fine, doesn't leave as much (if any) of a splatter unlike it's competions on the market. Also in are Walnut antique spray as well as the new StazOn cleaner in a small spritz bottle.

Our BC CROP for Kids fundraiser in session!

Our 1st of 2 BC Crop for Kids Fundraisers are in session and goes until 9pm this evening! Here are some pictures of the day so far.

Mary Pauls and Hayley Glauser team co-ordinators for the BC Crop for kids from the mainland joined us to offer 3 make 'n takes by donation. Our attendees had a great time pitching in for the kids and made several make 'n takes.

Today's crop date landed on Ronna's birthday, so I baked some cupcakes last night and surprised her with a "birthday cupcake" at the crop. Of course, there were cupcakes for everyone as well. My daughter J'Naya had a hard time with me leaving the house this morning as I was taking the cupcakes with me. She was pleasantly surprised when I forgot the birthday candles and called for her and Keith to deliver them to the store. BUT, of course she had a plan. She was determined that she was not going to leave the store until we presented Ronna with her "Birthday Cupcake". As you can see, J'Naya was waiting along side Ronna, waited until everyone sang Happy Birthday....her plan..... to get a cupake of course! HAPPY BIRTHDAY RONNA! Hope you had a great day.

Marvelous Midnight Crop!

Our midnight crop was last night and we had a fantastic turn-out! Lots of chatter, lots of laughs, and lots of creating! "Stike a Pose!" (thanks for your enthusiam Marianne!)

Next month's Midnight Crop is scheduled for Friday October 15, 2010. The crop room opens at noon and you can arrive at any time and stay as long as you want up until midnight. All Workshop tools available for your use. If you wish to use the Cricut, please bring your mat. All cricut cartridges are available for use during midnight crops as well! Fundraising for BC Children's Hospital!

Our fundraising efforts are in full-force in our attempts as a store and as part of the crafting community to raise funds for BC Children's Hospital.

If you have not had chance to sign up for one of our BC CROP for KIDS crops that we are hosting at our store, you still have an opportunity! Our store has been re-vamped and spaces have been made for more croppers. The store has a lovely open feel and all people working in the workshop area can move around freely. If you have not been in the store lately, come in and check it out. Let us know what you think as well. Feedback is always welcomed.

My cousin's daughter (young blonde girl) and her friend were asked to be in a short film about breast cancer. They are featured in this short film which will be screening at Breastfest 2010! Very exciting.

You won't need to "man/woman" your items {You don't even need to be there...but you'll want to be there for shopping purposes!}

Scrappers' Anonymous takes care of all the monetary transactions for you. Sell your items & earn Scrappers' Anonymous store credit equal to the amount you sell.

Please label all of items clearly with your initials and the price that you want (ie: SLR $2.00). PLEASE use a label that won't fall off.

Price items to sell: Scrappers' Anonymous will not barter for you!

All small items should be bagged but still visible (ie: ziplock bag)

No item shall be priced below 25 cents. Only price items in 25 cent increments.

With my Mom and Aunt having gone through and going through the stages associated with Breast Cancer, it was an article dear to my heart!

Just a quick notice to let you know that the Fall 2010 Issue of the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine will be shipping out around August 23rd. I don't know about you, but the sub-title "Layers of Luscious Design" catches my attention! I LOVE putting layers on my cards and layouts, so I can't wait to see what they have done. My first thought is colours and texture. How close will I be? OK...., I confess, I LOVE pink as well, so I am interested to read "For the Love of Pink" by Sue Skyes.

Blackberry vandals.....

OK, for those of you who I might be offending, I will apologize right up front.....But there are some things that I just don't either agree with or understand in life: stealing, lack of respect or vandalism to name a few.

Today as I was leaving my house, there were about 10-15 people in front of my house picking blackberries. Buckets in hand and some were the LARGE Wine buckets!

Yummy I understand, nature is free (I get it!), sharing the wealth that nature brings....These are all awesome....BUT....one thing that I don't get is the fact that when some people are taking advantage of what nature brings to us and don't clean up after themselves, why did they start in the first place?

So just before I left my house, I just had to pull out my camera and snap a picture! I think it was to bring it all to reality for me. Yes, I have a picture with the people in it, but I am not posting that one just so I don't expose who some of the people are. To put this into a bigger perspective, there was even a lady with garden sheers. (Did she just happen to have them in her car?!) When there was a bramble in the way, she cut it down; Blackberries not quite in reach....cut some more! My initial thought was "I'm sure they will clean it up when they are done...blackberry bushes do grow back". But when I arrived home, my thoughts were proved incorrect. Brambles lay over the ground and some were even tossed ontop of the brambles. Is this me ranting....Yep! But I guess this is therapy for me. The pictures here don't do it justice. I know what I will be doing tomorrow....cleaning up the neighbourhood and doing my part!

So to bring some light to this, I found some projects completed by other talented ladies that I would like to share. Hopefully all of the blackberries picked today will be enjoyed to the maximum.....since there were Wine buckets, I thought that I would show you some projects from Crafty Secrets using the Wine Lovers set.

The card on the left was completed by Crafty Secrets designer Marisa and the series of wine projects on the right was completed by Lisa Zappa, another Crafty Secrets designer.

Donating Blood

So I go to donate blood last night and I am talking to the man putting in the needle & I say I hear there are 10,000 needed to have enough blood for this summer, and he says yes it's a difficult time of year to get donors in. However, he tells me that 25% of all blood donated in BC comes from the Island! So way to go Islanders, just one more reason to be proud of living here.

COPIC Products! Ordering soon!

With our order soon going in for COPIC markers and COPIC products (after the long weekend!), I thought that I would share with you a list that I have compiled listing "Some reasons why COPIC Markers are all the rage!"

1. Copic markers are initially a larger investment(although our prices are among some of the best!), the Copic markers are refillable and all the nibs are replaceable making these markers a lifetime investment. You are not buying a disposable purchase. once you run out of ink or forget and leave a cap off.
2. Copic Sketch markers are available in 322 colours. Prismacolor markers are available in 156 colours. Copic Ciao markers are available in 144 colours. We carry the Sketch markers but will bring in the other styles by request.
3. All the Copic markers are refillable in both the Ciao and the Sketch with the standard Copic Various Inks. Many other brands of markers are not refillable.
4. Copic markers have a beautiful ink flow...both ends of the marker get the same amount of ink. It has been reported to me that Prismacolor does not- the brush end gets more ink than the fine tip end of the marker.
5. With the unique Copic airbrush system attachments you can airbrush with your markers. How cool is that!! The airbrush system is simple anyone can airbrush!!
6. The Copic markers are acid free, fast drying and won't dissolve toner on photo copies or photos.
7. The oval body profile of the Sketch marker makes it roll resistant on working surfaces. This shape is what fits in the airbrush system and one reason why I and many other people prefer Copic Sketch over the Copic Ciao. The Ciao marker has a traditional round barrel shape.
8. The solid propopylene body of the marker is both smooth and comfortable for a controllable grip.
9. The precise and positive coloured capping system provides for instant colour selection. Copic markers provide for an easy to understand colour coding system. For the quickest explaination, the alpha portion of the code tells you the colour family and the numeric portion of the code tells you how dark the colour is.
10. The body inscriptions and symbols are wear resistant and easily cleaned.
11. The nibs are made of durable polyester and are available for the Sketch and Ciao in 3 styles. 12. The tips: The chisel, brush and an optional tip (the firm medium round) all of which will fit in either end of the Copic Sketch and Ciao markers. The super brush is a soft flexible fast-flowing brush which can be used on its very tip for delicate areas as well as used like a brush for bold expression.
13. Unlike Tombow markers you can actually use the tip of the brush. When you are blending colours, you actually load your pallete by tapping the tip (tip to tip technique). Tombow markers are waterbased and will bead paper fibers when you try to layer or blend. Alcohol ink markers will not.
14. ....Now you will no longer worry about someone using your markers and ruining them.
15. If you forget to put the marker cap on and your nib dries out - you can replace just the nib not the whole marker. Many other brands of marker nibs are not replaceable.
16. The Copic Sketch marker has more ink than the Copic Ciao. Ciaos are available in only 144 colours.
17. The refills now provide you with 322 colours of alcohol ink to alter items with.
18. The bottle of colourless blender is 200 cc's of ink. It will refill your Copic Ciao marker approximately 100 times and your Copic Sketch marker approximately 70 times. The comparison that I found was this example: You would have purchased $300.00 worth of prismacolor blending markers for the $13.00 of colourless refill you purchased from Copic.
19. The colourless blender allows you to colour large areas of design without stroke marks, simply colour the entire image with the blender and then while the blender is still wet add your colour.
20. The Copic markers have a larger selection of skin tones than the prismacolor markers.
I believe that it is safe to say that most everyone who has used them absolutley loves them. The airbrush system is easy to use. It can be used on a wide range of surfaces including paper, fabric, plastic, and metal.

So Dave & my youngest daughter,Kelsey, have headed for an off-roading trip thru Pemberton, over the Hurley pass and back thru Lilloett this long weekend. I've just dropped Kimberly off at her friend's house and they are going downtown with a group of friends to celebrate Canada Day. In the past I would be doing a happy dance having the house to myself, but as soon as I dropped off Kimberly, I felt lonely. Funny what motherhood does to one's heart!

There are many classes coming up at Scrappers' Anonymous. I have highlighted some of them here.

Featured on the left are the different card classes. I have put a framed number beside each class to make it easier for you to see what classes we are holding on specific dates. The number will also help to distinguish between store samples and class samples.

The two layouts on the right are the layouts that are being offered for our drop-in $5.00 Friday on Friday May 28th.

There are a series of classes (4 layouts/2 cards) which start this week. Spaces are still available and the layouts/cards are fabulous. Pictured here are the layouts/cards for the Dinosaurs class. This class is scheduled on May 26th, but the first class "Road Trip" is scheduled this Tuesday May 18th. Check out the class calendar on our website for more pictures of each of the 3 different classes. Register for all 3 classes and receive a discount! These specials are only available until our shipment arrives, are on a first come first serve basis, as well as only available while supplies last!

CLASSES, CLASSES and more CLASSES!

Many of you have been asking for more classes. Well, we have come through for you!

Check out the selection of scrapbooking and cardmaking classes that are available for you on our website under classes at http://www.scrappersanonymous.ca/ .

To get even more scrapbook layouts completed, we have introduced and designed 3 classes where you will make 4- 12X12 layouts and 2 coordinating cards all in the same class. These first 3 classes feature My Mind's Eye - Abbey Road Collection. The 3 classes are as follows. Pictures included below feature only a few of the pages that you will create during each class. The entire class layouts/cards are on display in the store:

Road Trip: You will create 2 Double 12X12 layouts (total 4 layouts) and 2 cards.

Class dates: Tuesday May 18th
Class times: 10am-1pm OR 6pm-9pm

Class features: create dimension with the images in the paper, add interest with chipboard and paints.

Please bring your Basic Kit to class as well as Foam dimensionals and strong adhesive (ie: Scor-tape).

Dinosaurs: You will create 1 double 12X12 layout and 2 single 12X12 layouts and 2 cards.

Class date: Wednesday May 26th
Class time: 10am-1pm OR 6pm-9pm

Class features: Create an exploding volcano, learn a technique with ribbon, and learn different ways to create clouds!

Please bring your Basic Kit to class as well as glue dots, strong adhesive (ie: Scor Tape) and precision scissors.

Girly Girl: You will create 1 double 12X12 layout and 2 single 12X12 layouts as well as 2 cards.

Class date: Monday May 31st
Class time: 10am-1pm OR 6pm-9pm

Class features: Create ribbon flowers and leaves, as well as paper frill edge.

Please bring Basic Kit to class as well as dimensionals, glue dots, and strong adhesive.

You will not want to miss out on these classes. There are only 9 spaces available per class, so register ASAP. Ask us about the discount if you register for ALL 3 off these classes!

New Store Hours

Starting Friday April 16, we will be closing at 5:30pm except for nites where a midnite crop is scheduled.

Thursdays closing at 5:00pm unless a class is scheduled (ATC social still first Thursday of every month).

These evenings will be open by request for private events. If you would like to book a private workshop & you have 8 or more people in attendance, the organizer gets the workshop for free!

Gift of Hope

In the last few weeks, my aunt and uncle have both been through a lot mentally. They have both been diagnosed with Cancer. Not only one, but both! Yes, husband and wife. I'm not sure what they will say to me for posting this, but I guess it is like a little bit of therapy for me. For some people, talking about the "facts of life" in this instance is the best for the soul. I believe this to be true for me. It all becomes "real" and the process of acceptance can begin. As my aunt and uncle (and their 2 daughters) are my only relatives in the western part of Canada, they are my family. In fact, it was my aunt and uncle who welcomed me into their home when I decided to venture on my own and leave Nova Scotia. Although we had our moments (picture an early 20's gal who had lived on her own for a few years with her "own" rules entering into a family with an 11 & 13 year old and a whole other set of rules...I'm sure you get the picture!), but we have made it through and our bond is stronger now than ever.

Well, what is my reason for posting this? My uncle started radiation on Wednesday and today was my aunt's first chemo treatment. I just had to do something! So, I planned out a "chemo kit" to take to my aunt. Here are pictures of the "chemo kit" that I made for her and I filled it with many different items that may help her out during the process. I decorated an empty paint can with Basic Grey Kioshi papers, used the Scrap Pink Kit from Sizzix to texturize the paper. I sponged over the texture words and ribbon symbol with ink from a stamp pad. I added a die cut of a large ribbon and a few brads to embellish. I wrapped the handle with tulle and added a few ribbons on each handle to finish it off. (note: the lid is just tilted to show the paper covering the lid)

Items that I included in this kit:

Soft Slippers, a bottle of water, mint candies, anti-bacterial hand cleanser, hand lotion, word puzzle, journal & book mark (yes, I forgot the pen!), kleenex, and lip balm.

I hope this gives you some inspiration for a project!

WOW! The last day of March! Where does the time go?

There are many great classes and events coming up so I just wanted to recap on them.

BASIC GREY card classes: 2 great card classes created by Basic Grey designers. Each class has 8 cards with matching envelopes. As well, you will go home with extra products(rub ons, die cuts and chipboard pieces). First classes feature the Kioshi line (Thursday April 1st 6-9pm or Wednesday April 7th 6-9pm). The second classes feature the Green at Heart line (Monday April 19th 6-9pm or Wednesday April 21st 6-9pm)

Scrapbooking 101: A Class designed for the beginner scrapbooker. Join Susan as she shares her knowledge with you to get you started preserving you memories for years to come! You will make a 12X12 layout with the pictures you bring (please bring about a dozen) Monday April 5th 1-3pm

ATC Social: Come out, receive a goodie bag with products to make 4-6 ATCs, swap ATC cards and socialize. Thursday April 8th from 6:30-8:30pm

Fun, Fast and Fabulous: A day of scrapbooking, where we have designed 8- 12X12 layouts just for you. All supplies are included (other than your basic kit - definitely need to bring adhesives and trimmer). We will even supply lunch, dessert, tea & coffee! Saturday April 10th 10:00am-5:00pm ONLY 4 SPACES LEFT!

Marvelous Monograms Stationary Box with Glenda!: Glenda has created a fantastic Stationary box full of everything you need to send that quick little note. Join her on Sunday April 11th from 1-3pm.

CROP TO CREATE weekend: Join us for a total of 24 hours of scrapbooking, stamping, cardmaking, papercrafting or any other creative craft that you would like to do! The doors will open at Strawberry Vale Community Hall at 6:00pm on Friday April 30th and you can stay until 1:00am! Join us again the next morning May 1st when doors open at 8:00am and stay once again until 1:00am! But of course you can join us at anytime you like during those hours. I have lots of scrapbook layout challenges, colour challenges and card challenges ready for you. There will be prizes to be won! Tea, coffee and goodies will be provided. We do need a minimum number of registrants, so register today!

Susan & Nancy go to Paris

Well Nancy and I have been here for a week now & are we ever having a great time! We have walked & walked & walked... and shopped & shopped & shopped! Of course we had to go to the only scrapbooking store in Paris, Le Temple du Scrap, and is it ever huge! Another Basic Grey Card Class - Green at Heart!

I have one more Basic Grey Card Class to show you! Once again, this card class has been designed by Basic Grey designers!

The fresh and fun assortment of Basic Grey's new GREEN AT HEART line are used in this class. These cards are cheerful and will bring a little sunshine to someone's day! You will make 8 cards using an assortment of patterned cards, printed chipboard, die cuts and rub ons. You will also go home with lots of extra product (paper die cuts, chipboard and rub ons!).
This class comes complete with envelopes to fit your cards perfectly! To see these cards in person, they are on display at the store. Use these cards as they were intended: as cards. Or incorporate them into your scrapbook pages!

More Basic Grey Classes on the way!

The Basic Grey Page of the Month Program is underway! We had our first complimentary class this evening.

With such a great program, we are bringing you more from Basic Grey! There will be more scrapbook layouts so stay tuned! But there just had to be something for the cardmakers too.

The Kioshi line of paper and products will be featured in the first classes. I just love the soft tones to this line. Join me either Thursday April 1st 6-9pm or Wednesday April 7th 6-9pm and make 8 wonderful cards. You will also receive envelops to fit perfectly with your cards. To top it off, you will go home with extra Chipboard pieces, paper die cut pieces, rub ons, as well as the instructions. If scrapbooking is more your thing, these cards would make great accents to put on your scrapbook pages.

Basic Grey Page of the Month Layout Program

The Basic Grey Page of the Month Program will begin this week with complimentary classes on Thursday evening from 6-8pm and Saturday from 1-3pm.

Pictured here is the 1st layout designed by Basic Grey designer Vicki Boutin.

After putting all of the kits together you will be happy to know that you will also be going home with lots of extra product. When taking a Basic Grey kit class, if an embellishment has been used in the layout, you not only get the exact embellishments they used, but you get the ENTIRE package! On this layout for example they used 4 pieces from the Paper Pieces package. With 17 pieces in a package, that's quite a number of extra pieces. An additional bonus here is that you can choose what paper pieces YOU want on your own layout. So look at this layout a bit closer. With the kit you get 2 sheets of 5 different patterned papers. I'll let you figure it out, but that's a fair bit of extra paper that you will also go home with! Pictured to the right are only some of the kits that I was organizing! Note the full packages of clips, paper pieces and instruction sheet!

Show Time!

Why is there a picture of Bill Cosby and "The Cosby Family" on our blog?! I just had to share my news with you.

While I was growing up I think that I "grew up with the Cosby Family". Well, not in person of course. But it was a show that was watched religiously in our house. The humour, laughs and lightheartedness of the show pleased many while still covering many subjects that really hit home with almost anyone. Just the vision of Bill in the kitchen makes me smile...and an apron at that! Looking at the picture with the family at the table is a reminder of how "family" is a stronger unit when they come together and work as a unit. I always love being around families with this strong bond: happiness and joy abound!

My news: I am going to see Bill Cosby tonight as I won tickets! YEAH~~ I can really use a good laugh and I'm sure that won't be a problem~....see, it pays to watch the news. THANKS /A\ NEWS!

Wedding Display & Baby Cake

Pictured on the left is the wedding display that I made for the Sewing & Craft Show March 11-12, 2010. Teresa helped out by making the card that is on the stand on the left-hand side. The display was complete with the following: wedding cake, bridal party boxes, wedding card, invite and thank you cards, table place setting card, topiary table center piece as well as extra hand-made flowers.

The cake and bridal party were all completed with industrial dies that we have. If you are interested in a bridal package such as this, please let us know. We are in the process of putting together an order sheet to order kits. This display would also be good for a birthday party, bridal shower, prom party as well as many other occasions. We can alter it to suit your needs.

I am also posting a Baby Shower cake that Mily Avon completed. Mily informed me that both her and her friend Trish hand-cut every cake slice! The hours to complete both of these projects is well worth the effort. Thanks for sharing your creation Mily!
